Job Description

Our agriculture client located in Shelburne is looking for an Accountant. This is a permanent role, with the potential for hybrid work (2 or more days per week onsite). This position is ideal for someone with accounting experience, who enjoys working with a great team of people, in a positive and fast paced learning environment. The successful candidate will ideally have a background in agriculture, or a keen interest in learning. This role is an integral part of the farm team and operation.
Responsibilities:

• Responsible for full cycle accounting for the business, including:

Monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations Monthly financial reporting including income statement and balance sheets Month end, quarter end and year end close Tracking of capital assets and depreciation

• Analyze financial statements, investigating and correcting inconsistencies

• Assist in year-end audit

• Support Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable with cost allocations

• Daily/weekly/monthly review of transactions in QuickBooks, making necessary adjustments

• Develop and execute procedures and process improvement recommendations, with a focus on best practices

• Assist in government regulatory audits

• Complete and review grand/funding applications and/or other government agriculture assistance programs

• Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures

• Assist with other projects and administrative duties as required

Position Requirements:

• Accounting experience required (3+ years)

• Background in agriculture is an asset
