Job Overview





Utilizing a fund accounting model, the Accountant is responsible for effective financial management, information services, data collection, record keeping, reporting, risk management and auditing for the organization. This role is a great fit for someone who is organized, enjoys problem solving, and can work both independently and as part of a team.


Responsibilities and Duties




Complete and continuously improve the month-end and year-end close processes. Work directly with managers on financial functions related to their departments. Maintain the integrity of financial information by ensuring that financial data is complete and accurate and complies with legislation, general accounting principles, best practices, agreements with external parties and Elmwood policies and procedures. Contribute to the organization's effective management through preparation of accurate, timely financial reports and statements. Prepare monthly financial statements and reserve schedules for presentation to the Director of Finance and Information Services. Prepare departmental and consolidated budgets in consultation with Director of Finance and Information Services. Provide necessary information and work directly with the auditors in preparation of the year-end financial statement. Support development of organizational risk management strategy. Ensure confidentiality is maintained within and outside the organization. May directly oversee and supervise other finance department staff. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications




Bachelor of Commerce or Business Administration degree. A combination of education and experience may be considered. CPA designation considered an asset. Experience with QuickBooks is required. CPIC with Vulnerable Sector Clearance is required.
