Our family-owned and operated business has grown and diversified over the years to become one of the largest flooring companies in the Greater Ottawa and Kingston region, with locations in Ottawa and Kingston.

Summary of the position

We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Intermediate Accountant to support our accounting department. This full-time position, based in our Ottawa office, will work with Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), payroll, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will help ensure the smooth operation of invoicing, collections, payment applications, payroll including installer payments, and supplier payments, while gaining valuable experience in full-cycle accounting and supporting accurate financial reporting, month-end, and year-end close activities.

Key responsibilities

Manage sales invoices, customer payments, and daily deposits; maintain AR records; monitor aging and follow up on overdue accounts; prepare AR reports and progress billing for long-term projects. Review, process, and reconcile vendor invoices and statements; ensure proper approvals; and prepare timely and accurate vendor payments while maintaining organized AP records. Assist with payroll processing, including data preparation, review, reconciliation, reporting, and remittances, while maintaining strict confidentiality. Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports, perform balance sheet and selected income statement reconciliations, and support month-end and year-end close activities. Provide ongoing support to the accounting team, collaborate with cross-functional departments, contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes, and perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

College or university degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred. CPA candidates and students are encouraged to apply; Westboro Flooring will support your professional development and career growth. 3 years of experience in an accounting or finance-related position is preferred, however, training will be provided, and motivated candidates are encouraged to apply. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate financial records. Strong work ethic, positive team attitude, and customer-focused approach. Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
