Job Summary


We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations. This role requires strong technical accounting skills, proficiency with various accounting software, and the ability to interpret complex financial data. The Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial statements and supporting the organization's financial health across diverse sectors, including non-profit, governmental, and corporate environments.

Responsibilities



Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other regulatory standards. Manage general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data. Perform accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice processing and payment tracking. Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and journal entries to maintain accurate financial records. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. Ensure compliance with SOX controls, LIHTC regulations, securities law, and other applicable legal requirements. Support regulatory reporting obligations and audit processes through detailed documentation and reporting. Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms for daily operations. Maintain expertise in technical accounting areas including accrual accounting, financial management, and tax experience. Mentor junior staff or interns as needed to foster professional development within the team. Contribute to the preparation of tax filings and other statutory reports as required.

Skills



Strong understanding of GAAP, financial concepts, double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits. Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft; experience with Microsoft Excel is essential. Knowledge of regulatory requirements including SOX compliance and LIHTC programs. Experience in corporate accounting, non-profit accounting, governmental accounting, or public accounting environments. Ability to interpret financial reports accurately and communicate findings effectively. Skilled in financial report writing and analysis for management review. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously. Strong analytical skills for cash flow analysis, account analysis, budget management, and forecasting. Familiarity with securities law, wills, trusts, and estate law is a plus but not required.
