About the Role



The accountant will assist the Controller with the day-to-day financial operations of the resort, including daily sales reporting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and budget monitoring. This position requires a proactive professional with strong attention to detail and a commitment to growth within the organization. This role offers hands-on experience in all areas of resort accounting, including a path to future leadership with in-house training and development.

Key Responsibilities



General Accounting:



Perform general accounting activities, including daily sales reporting, account reconciliations, AP/AR, journal entries and month-end close. Maintain accurate general ledger records in compliance with accounting standards. Reconcile bank and credit card statements regularly. Prepare and file GST / HST / MRDT returns. Support annual audits.

Budgeting & Financial Analysis:



Assist in the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets across departments. Provide variance analysis and cost insights to department heads. Support data-driven decision-making through financial reporting.

Financial Reporting:



Assist in the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements, operational reports, and internal analysis. Maintain regular inventory reports for departments, ensuring inventory accuracy and cost tracking.

Payroll:



Accurately prepare and process payroll for all employees in accordance with company policies and applicable legislation. Ensure timely submission of payroll for payment. Maintain employee payroll records. Ensure confidentiality and accuracy of payroll data. Ensure payroll processes comply with federal and provincial employment standards, tax laws, and statutory requirements (e.g., CRA, CPP, EI, WCB). Ensure government remittances are filed on time. Coordinate with HR and benefits providers for updates or adjustments. Prepare regular payroll reports for management and finance. Manage annual T4/T4A preparation and distribution. Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, pay statements, tax slips, and related matters in a timely and professional manner.

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 2-4 years of accounting experience; industry (hospitality/resort) experience is an asset but not mandatory. Payroll processing experience is mandatory Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Excel. High attention to detail, analytical mindset, and strong work ethic. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a dynamic environment. Self-starter, team player, positive attitude.

Pay: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
