Job Description

Job Summary:

The Accountant will manage the financial records, monitor cash flow, and ensure accurate reporting of all business transactions for the cash and carry business. The role is critical in maintaining profitability through accurate inventory accounting, cost tracking, and financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Recording & Reporting

Record all daily financial transactions including sales, purchases, expenses, and bank deposits. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

Inventory & Cost Management

Track inventory levels and ensure accurate valuation of stock. Monitor cost of goods sold (COGS) and calculate gross margins. Assist in pricing decisions and margin analysis for products.

Cash Management

Monitor cash flow, ensure proper handling of cash transactions. Maintain accurate records for cash deposits and withdrawals. Implement controls to minimize cash discrepancies or losses.

Payroll & Compliance

Process employee payroll accurately and on time. Ensure compliance with tax regulations, payroll deductions, and reporting requirements. Coordinate with auditors and external accountants as needed.

Operational Support

Collaborate with the purchasing and operations teams to reconcile deliveries, returns, and vendor invoices. Provide financial insights to support business decisions. Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce errors.

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA designation or working toward it is preferred. 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in retail, wholesale, or inventory-heavy businesses. Strong knowledge of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage). Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Attention to detail and strong ethical standards.
