Job Description

Blake Medical Group Inc., is a proud Canadian family owned manufacture of medical seating, mattresses and a unique gel used as fundamental part of our product line, based in Hamilton, Ontario. We are seeking a Accountant who can support, guide and play a key role in managing our financial health as we continue to grow and early-stage entry into the European market.

The controller is a key member of the management team and provides financial management guidance and ensures that financial statements/analysis provide meaningful information to support operational, managerial and strategic decision making

The accountant is responsible for all administrative and financial aspects of the company, including but not limited to timely and efficient execution of accounting activities, oversight on compliance with internal controls and account reconciliations, development of annual capital and operational budgets, provision of timely and accurate cost information, timely reporting and analysis of monthly/quarterly/annual accurate financial statements for both internal and statutory reporting purposes, and provision of key performance indicators for the business.

In addition, the accountant is expected to demonstrate financial management excellence by effectively communicating key financial issues with company stakeholders while also having a continuous improvement mindset toward the finance function.

Essential Job Functions



1. Financial Management and Reporting:

Develops accounting and financial management policies/processes, internal controls, delegation of authority guidelines and ensures compliance with these policies and controls

Timely preparation of:

monthly invoices, sales receipts and statements for clients. preparation and payments to vendors accounts receivable statements on a monthly basis. monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, including analysis of material cost variances collection, analysis and consolidation of financial and operation information for job status reports, and recommending plans as needed
Timely reconciliation of:

bank deposits and customer account relief bank and credit card accounts reconcile balance sheet accounts
2. Payroll, Benefits and Pension Administration:

Reviews and sign-off on bi-weekly payroll to ensure accuracy; handout cheques. Timely remittance of payroll deductions. Prepares and reconciles monthly, quarterly and annual Government, EHT and WSIB reports and remittances (CPP/EI and Tax, Workers Compensation, ROE, etc.) as well as preparation of T4's and T5's for holding companies. Manages the company benefits plan and ensure changes/amendments are performed as required. Reviews and approve enrollment into the benefit and pension plans for new employees. Timely remittance of pension contributions and preparation of annual report for pension plan.
3. Planning/Budgeting

Preparation of quarterly fee projections Manage the operational and capital budgeting processes Develop and report on key performance measures for the business
4. Operations

Assists the management team in providing analytical data for key decisions Oversees accuracy of financial accounting practices and record keeping of holding company and related companies Oversees the company's transaction processing systems Oversees other finance administration staff in the execution of financial practices
5. Funding

Monitors cash balances and cash forecasts Monitors inventory levels and working capital on a regular basis Assists in arrangement of debt or equity financing as required Assist the General Manager in maintaining banking relationships
6. Additional Responsibilities:

Continuous improvement and training of staff, development of efficient operations within the accounting department and maintaining effective inter-relationships with other departments (purchasing, sales etc.) Oversees record keeping of vacation, sick leave and other absences for all company employees
Performs other duties assigned.

Education/Experience Requirements



Minimum Education: University Degree in Commerce or Business Administration Minimum Experience: 5 years in a related field; Extensive experience and knowledge in dealing with accounting systems, budgets, internal controls, business planning and asset management Strong knowledge and focus on internal controls and compliance Excellent judgement, problem solving and attention to detail Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail Integrity, with an ability to handle confidential information Experience with accounting software, like QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise & Advanced MS Excel knowledge Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines

We are currently operating at 42 Niagara St, Hamilton, ON, where production will continue until our relocation.

Blake Medical Group (BMG) will be moving to 60 Prince Charles, Brantford, in January or February 2026 (exact date to be determined).

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $65,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
