About the Role
We are hiring a Accountant to support daily accounting functions, month-end close, and operational financial reporting. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, process-focused, and comfortable working with transactional data while supporting cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Vendor Support
Process vendor invoices in QuickBooks Desktop using PO + packing slip matching
Resolve pricing discrepancies, freight and brokerage charges with vendors
Prepare bi-monthly cheque runs (CAD & USD) and maintain payment schedules
Maintain organized digital filing for vendor documents and approvals
Banking, Credit Cards & Reconciliation
Reconcile Canadian and US bank accounts, credit cards, and petty cash
Update cash float daily with supporting receipts
Post corporate VISA/Amex transactions to QBD with correct GL coding
General Ledger & Month-End Close
Prepare adjusting journal entries with proper backup
Reconcile balance sheet accounts including prepaid expenses, accruals, fixed assets, customer deposits, and amortization
Support monthly close tasks and schedules
Reporting & Compliance
Prepare recurring internal reports including:
Financial reporting for leadership
Sales tax deposits (GST/HST)
Commission issue reporting
Intercompany transactions for related entities
Support documentation for year-end and audit packages
Payroll
Process bi-weekly payroll including overtime, vacation and lieu time adjustments
Maintain payroll records and coordinate changes across HR and finance
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work with logistics and production teams on freight and customs invoices
Attend operational meetings to stay aligned with priorities
Provide financial data to support project costing and decision-making
Qualifications
Required
2-4 years hands-on accounting experience
QuickBooks Desktop or Online experience
Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliation formulas)
Experience with AP, reconciliations, and journal entries
Ability to work onsite in Scarborough
Preferred
Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or project-based accounting
Exposure to costing, inventory, or WIP
Experience supporting ERP/system migration
Working toward CPA an asset
