JOB SUMMARY

:


The

Financial Accountant

applies knowledge of accounting theory and procedures to perform general accounting duties and project work.

COMPETENCIES:

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel software programs Good communication skills, both verbal and written Strong organizational and time-management skills Demonstrated strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy Must be knowledgeable in accounting theory and procedures Knowledge of SAP would be considered an asset

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reconciles General Ledger monthly Analyzes and provides clarification of accounts for managers as required Recodes incorrect invoices, credit notes and General Ledger entries Inputs journal entries in SAP Supports cost-reduction and process-efficiency opportunities Updates departmental budget templates Prepares diverse financial reports on a regular basis Participates in the analysis of the annual expense budget Participates in preparation for year-end audit Assists auditors by responding to questions and gathering information Recommends and develops improvements to accounting processes on an on-going basis Provides assistance to the Finance Manager as required

REQUIRMENTS

:

Post-secondary accounting diploma or certificate

PREFFERED:

University degree with a concentration in accounting, orcommunity college accounting diploma Currently a professional accountant (CPA, CGA, CMA, CA), enrolled or planning to enroll in a professional accounting program Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
