Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Access Control Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be a key player in the installation, service, and maintenance of electronic security systems, with a primary focus on access control. This role is ideal for a hands-on individual with strong technical skills, a customer-centric attitude, and a deep understanding of low-voltage electronics and network-based security solutions.

Responsibilities



- Install, configure, and commission a variety of access control systems, including:

- Card readers, keypads, and biometric devices.

- Electric strikes, magnetic locks, and door closers.

- Access control panels and related hardware.

- Perform programming, integration, and troubleshooting of access control software.

- Conduct on-site service calls, diagnostics, and repairs to address system malfunctions.

- Install and service-related low-voltage systems, such as intercom systems.

- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and wiring diagrams to ensure accurate installations.

- Provide clear and professional training to clients on the use and maintenance of their new access systems.

-Maintain meticulous records of work performed, including service reports, time sheets, and parts used.

- Ensure all work complies with Canadian Electrical Code, building codes, and industry safety standards.

- Manage a service vehicle and maintain an organized inventory of tools and parts.

Requirements



- Experience: 1-5 years of proven experience as an Access Control Technician or a similar role in the security industry.

- Technical Knowledge:

- Strong background in low-voltage wiring and electronics.

- Hands-on experience with major access control platforms (e.g., Salto, Kantech, Schlage Engage/Express, Smart-Air etc.]).

- Basic Locksmithing skills would be an asset but not required as we provide in house training.

- Proficient in using multimeters and other diagnostic tools.

- Certifications/Licenses:

- Provincial Security License Required

- A valid Canadian Driver's License with a clean driving record.

- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- High level of integrity and a commitment to security protocols.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00-$40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
