Reporting to and under the supervision of the Associate Dean (Academic), the Associate Dean (Student Experience & Engagement) and the Faculty Administrator, the incumbent will be expected to work on campus with the Science Program Coordinator and the staff in the Science Academic Hub and Science departments to advise undergraduate students in their degree programs as well as pre-professional pathways. Student recruitment and retention is a Science priority and this position will be a member of the team assigned to develop, deliver and support these endeavors.



What You'll Do:
• Share responsibility to ensure academic advising is available to current and prospective students in person (by appointment and drop-in), by telephone, virtually (Zoom, etc.) and in writing, in planning academic programs;
• Problem solve scheduling and/or program issues. Significant interaction with program partners is required;
• Process student related functions such as transfer credits, student program outlines, program audits, academic action, and reviewing graduation files;
• Share responsibility for student orientation, recruitment and retention activities including presenting information, advising students and representing the Faculty at off campus events, career days, workshops, etc.;
• Organize and coordinate special events associated with Science students;
• Take on special projects that are assigned as required.
• Provide administrative support for Science Admissions and Studies and Appeals Committees (including editing Science portions of the general calendar);
• Prepare student statistics;
• Participate on faculty and university committees;
• Act as liaison with the Science student societies;
• Perform administrative duties as they relate to the Science Academic hub;
• Maintain student aspects of the faculty web-page.

Position Requirements
What You'll Bring to this Position: • University degree
• Minimum of five years of experience directly related to the required duties.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered;






Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role:
• Knowledge and experience in the application of university policies and processes eg. Registration, admissions, convocation, academic action, advising reports, transfer credit, grade changes, deferrals, withdrawals, academic misconduct, academic appeals, UR Docs/Content 7, degree audit, student accommodation/invigilation;
• Demonstrated knowledge of academic advising and resolving student issues;
• Thorough understanding of computerized system capabilities and specific knowledge of CAPP, Cascade and the MS Office Suite (especially Word, Excel, Access and Power Point);
• Proficiency in statistical reporting and records management;
• Exceptional problem solving and conflict resolution skills;
• Exceptional written and verbal skills in order to communicate with faculty, staff, partners, students and the community effectively;
• Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate methods to deal with confidential material;
• Excellent project planning and evaluation skills;
• Demonstrated ability to work well under time pressures, and relate effectively both independently and in a team setting;
• Experience providing excellent customer service;
• Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management;
• Ability to coordinate and organize events and/or facilities usage;
• Demonstrated presentation skills;
• Evening and weekend work may be needed at times;
• Some travel may be required

Physical Demands Pay Grade APT 4 Salary Range $64,796 - $87,436 Status Term Work Hours Duration (if Term/Temporary) April 1, 2025 - April 30, 2026, with possibility of extension or becoming permanent Full-Time/Part-Time Full Time Preference Posting No Preference Target Posting Not Targeted
