Position Summary:
The position of Academic Journal Editor presents an exciting opportunity to learn about the publication process in the context of open access academic journal publishing and to join the MJE editorial team. It will involve sharing the responsibility and duties of being a Co-Managing Editor which will entail learning about the following tasks:

  • Sharing responsibility with Managing Editor I for all aspects related to publication and dissemination of the journal, including social media;

  • Managing all MJE-related communication;

  • Keeping the MJE archive organized and current;

  • Maintaining the online journal management system, which involves tracking manuscripts from initial submission through to editorial decision and publication and supporting MJE editors during this process;

  • Formatting and editing accepted articles for simultaneous PDF and HTML publication; this includes training of copyeditors;

  • Acting as liaison/contact person for the entire MJE team and for the journal (e.g., with third parties).


Other Qualifying Skills and Abilities:
Candidate must be highly organized, detail-oriented and flexible with strong computer/technological and editorial skills. Experience with page layout programs, HTML, Excel, Adobe products, Microsoft Outlook and expert knowledge of Microsoft Word would be considered a great asset. Knowledge of French and English. McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.
