Location: SE/SW Calgary (Near Fish Creek Library/Seton Library (YMCA))
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Academic Coaches to mentor and support secondary and post-secondary students in their academic endeavors. As an Academic Coach, you will provide weekly personalized guidance and assistance using the StudySpot method to help students develop effective study skills, enhance their academic performance, and achieve their educational goals. This is a casual position requiring a commitment to June 30, 2025, with in-person sessions held at various regional libraries.
Responsibilities:
Mentor and support secondary and post-secondary students in developing effective study habits, time management skills, and academic strategies.
Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions to address specific academic challenges and goals.
Assist students in setting achievable academic objectives and monitoring their progress.
Provide guidance on subject-specific content and help students with homework and assignments.
Collaborate with students to develop personalized study plans and strategies tailored to their learning styles.
Create a positive and encouraging learning environment that fosters academic growth and confidence.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and coaching sessions.
Stay up-to-date with educational trends and resources to enhance coaching effectiveness.
Qualifications:
Experience working with adolescents and/or university/college students.
Demonstrated personal track record of strong study skills and academic achievement.
University degree or currently enrolled in a final year of university program of studies, with a background in education, psychology, or related field preferred.
Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate students' schedules.
Committed to a 10-month school year (Until June 30, 2026).
Completion of required training for academic coaching (provided by employer).
Successful completion of a vulnerable sector check.
Strong computer skills and access to a personal computer for virtual/in person coaching sessions.
Proficiency in French language considered an asset.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written communication skills.
Strong math and science skills are an asset.
Job Types: Part-time, Casual
Pay: $27.00-$35.00 per hour
