Job Description

St. Albert Public Schools is currently seeking an

Academic Challenge & Enrichment (ACE) Teacher

to join the team at

Sir Alexander Mackenzie Elementary School

for the 2025-2026 school year. This part-time temporary position offers a unique opportunity to inspire and extend learning for gifted and talented students through innovative, engaging, and project/inquiry-based programming. The successful candidate will design and facilitate challenging learning experiences that foster intellectual curiosity, creativity, and a growth mindset for students in grades 4 - 5 across all core elementary curriculum.


More than 9,000 students are enrolled in St. Albert Public Schools. From Preschool to Grade 12, our students learn and succeed in programs that are recognized for excellence and their focus on citizenship and sound values.


FTE: 0.68 FTE , Temporary from August 2025 to June 2026

Responsibilities:



Design and deliver inquiry-based, interdisciplinary programming aligned with the philosophy of the ACE program for students in Grades 4-6. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of gifted and high-ability learners, incorporating critical and creative thinking, problem solving, and collaborative learning.



Create a safe and stimulating learning environment that encourages curiosity, risk-taking, and resilience.
Integrate real-world contexts, project-based learning, and student voice into daily instruction. Collaborate with classroom teachers, inclusive learning staff, and families to support student growth and program alignment. Use assessment data and student feedback to inform instructional decisions and refine programming. Contribute to school-wide initiatives and foster a culture of enrichment, inclusion, and high expectations.

Qualifications and Attributes:



A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate. An understanding of and passion for working with gifted and talented learners. Experience in designing and facilitating enriched, inquiry-based, or project-based learning environments. Strong instructional design skills, including the ability to differentiate for a wide range of learners. Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills. Demonstrated commitment to inclusive education and fostering a positive school culture.
Experience with assessment practices that support learner growth and reflection.
