The Department of Cardiac Sciences, in the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, invites applications for a Tenure Track (contingent) appointment in academic cardiology, with a particular focus in heart failure, nuclear cardiology, and cardiac CT at the Associate Professor level.
Qualifications include a MD, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certified cardiologist with advanced training in heart failure, nuclear cardiology and cardiac CT, and eligibility for regular licensure in the Province of Alberta. The successful candidate will have an established record in clinical research with demonstrated success in both research publications and obtaining research funds. A record of providing leadership in University and Health Services settings is considered an asset. Further, as an academic cardiologist, the successful candidate will be expected to engage in research and teaching in the area of their expertise. Duties will include the supervision of postgraduate clinical trainees and graduate students undertaking research project as well as providing clinical care to patients. Bedside and didactic teaching responsibilities are also expected.
Applicants must present evidence of an established, externally funded (at the level of Tri-Council or equivalent peer reviewed National/International organization) research program, a strong publication record as evidenced by continuous publication in high ranking journals, including as senior or first author. Applicants must show evidence of successful teaching and/or graduate supervision, and evidence of established academic engagement in professional and other communities.
