Temporary Part-time Associate Manager, Nurse Family Partnership and Early Years Group Programs Team

The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) has an exciting opportunity for a temporary part-time (0.6 FTE) Associate Manager, Nurse Family Partnership and Early Years Group Programs Team (NFP&EYGP) in the Family and Community Health (FCH) division until October 2026. Reporting to the Manager, NFP & EYGP, the incumbent will primarily oversee the day-to-day operation of the early years group programs component of the team. This includes recruitment, onboarding, and coordination of Public Health Nurse (PHN) direct reports, as well as providing guidance, performance management, direction and feedback. In collaboration with the Manager, the Associate Manager will provide operational leadership in implementation and continuous quality improvement of the Smart Start for Babies and pre-natal e-learning programs. They will also support select administrative functions of the NFP program and provide backup Associate Manager coverage as needed based on operational need.



RESPONSIBILITIES:



Creates and maintains a positive and safe workplace culture and team environment. Works to ensure team members understand and address health inequities. Oversees the work of direct reports and troubleshoots problems arising in daily work activities. Responsible for the overall activity and output of the team under their supervision. Proactively identifies areas for improvement, seeks solutions, and makes recommendations. Provides coaching, development, and mentoring, including reflective and clinical supervision, including observation of program delivery. Supports day-to-day operations, workload distribution, scheduling, and administration. Manages the recruitment and orientation of new staff members. Responsible for performance management and documentation audits and evaluations of direct reports. Responds to complaints from the public and works collaboratively to address and resolve related performance issues. Supports team members with complex clinical/client interactions, providing guidance and assessment based on applicable regulatory body standards (e.g. CNO). Supports planning and leads implementation of staff continuous learning and professional development opportunities. Ensures that reporting staff function in accordance with relevant legislation and guidelines, and division and/or organizational policies and procedures. Supports the manager in maintaining and managing fiscal resources and budget. Supports the manager in the collection and reporting of program data. Implements continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives. Identifies and handles program-related issues and escalations raised by team members and recommends mitigation strategies in collaboration with the manager. May support program planning, budgeting, development and review, if requested by the manager. Provides back-up coverage for the other NFP&EYGP and FCH Associate Managers and collaborates with FCH Associate Managers on related program initiatives. Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:



A four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) degree is required. Current certificate of competence from the Ontario College of Nurses (CNO) is required. Minimum five years of experience in public health, which includes 1 year of formal or informal leadership experience. Knowledge, experience and expertise in delivery of group programming and home visiting. Knowledge, experience and expertise in the areas of prenatal health, breastfeeding, perinatal mental health, intimate partner violence, and working with families to promote healthy growth and development. Familiarity with relevant Regulations and Guidelines as well as the Ontario Public Health Standards, legislation and protocols. Effective communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. Expertise in working with diverse populations, as well as demonstrated understanding of and experience in addressing health inequities. Demonstrated ability to create a safe work environment. Ability to take initiative, work independently, and effectively collaborate with others. Excellent computer skills with emphasis on electronic medical record and MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams). Experience in reflective supervision is an asset. Intention to complete a graduate degree is an asset.

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $56.65 to $66.10 based on qualifications and experience.
