Position Summary:
The 4th Class Steam Operator is responsible for maintaining safe production and oil loading in the Edible Oils Facility as well as coordinating product and byproduct flows with the other departments.

Core Functions:
\xc2\xb7 Operate to ensure product quality as determined by Edible Oils Facility Manager, Operations Supervisor and Quality Control Manager.
\xc2\xb7 Operate high pressure steam generator and ammonia system as determined by the Plant Engineer.
\xc2\xb7 Assist in Inspection, loading, sampling and sealing of oil cars and trucks.
\xc2\xb7 Ensure that equipment is kept clean and in good working order to achieve highest efficiency.
\xc2\xb7 Full knowledge of and compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
\xc2\xb7 Full knowledge of and compliance with related Good Manufacturing Practices.
\xc2\xb7 Full knowledge of and compliance with the Edible Oils Facility Work Instructions Manual.
\xc2\xb7 Full knowledge of and compliance with ammonia refrigeration and boiler operation codes.
\xc2\xb7 Review operations with previous shift operator and supervisor.
\xc2\xb7 Check operations continually and record readings on daily log sheet every 2 hours or as required.
\xc2\xb7 Sample and test product to ensure product quality and consistency.
\xc2\xb7 Clean up according to operator clean up duties.
\xc2\xb7 Perform minor maintenance on equipment when time allows.
\xc2\xb7 Provide a representative sample of production and load out for analysis.
\xc2\xb7 Perform any other related duties as required.
\xc2\xb7 Must be on time for each shift and stay over until replaced by the next operator.
\xc2\xb7 Report any non-compliance to supervision immediately.
Team Responsibilities:
\xc2\xb7 Operators must notify the Steam Engineers of any changes in steam usage for starting up or shutting down and communicate any ammonia related issues.
\xc2\xb7 Operators must communicate closely with the Extraction Plant Operators to co-ordinate product and byproduct flow and quality.
\xc2\xb7 Operators must deliver samples promptly to the lab as required by the lab.
\xc2\xb7 Operators must communicate and coordinate with loading and packaging personnel.
\xc2\xb7 Each operator must perform an equal share of clean up duties.

Skill/Experience Requirement:
\xc2\xb7 Must have a Power Engineer\'s Certificate Fourth Class.
\xc2\xb7 Preferably grade 12 education.
\xc2\xb7 Must be mechanically inclined.
\xc2\xb7 Must be able to work from heights and in confined spaces.
\xc2\xb7 Ability to communicate effectively both oral and written.
