The Inclusion Program known as Community Connections, is located at the main office of the Fort St. John Association for Community Living (FSJACL).
For bona fide reasons, this position is open to female applicants only.
We are currently seeking a full time permanent employee that can work any day of the week, 7 days a week (5 days in a row maximum) within the hours of 7:00 AM-7:00 PM (some later shifts may be required based on individuals needs). Shifts range between 7 and 8 hours day on average.
Must have a Class 5 driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
Employees will be orientated to multiple areas within the program, including but not limited to community and home based 1 on 1. This means working with an adult with a developmental disability both in their home and in the community to support with them with life skills.
Staff also organize and lead group activities including, but not limited to "in house" games, karaoke, life skills (reading, writing, math and money management, healthy relationships, cooking, cleaning, hygiene), science, aquaponics, drama and Art.
Staff organize and lead group community activities, including but not limited to, attending movies, concerts, community gatherings, going to the library, exercising (going to the gym, walking track, swimming, outdoor walking trails) and many other fun activities.
The staff could be scheduled in a regular rotation or scheduled in different positions daily, this is a busy program that requires staff to be motivated self starters, high energy, ethical and independent problem-solving skills an asset, and be able to adapt to change
The FSJACL is a non-profit agency which has been providing quality supports to adults with developmental disabilities in the Fort St John and District since 1960. The FSJACL is an accredited agency with a trained, caring and trusted professional team of over 80 employees who provide quality services and opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. The FSJACL works collaboratively with community partners to achieve our vision of inclusion for all.
