Roles & Responsibilities
Diagnosis and Repair:
Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues on heavy-duty vehicles, and machines including engine problems, brake malfunctions, electrical faults, and transmission issues., hydraulic lines.
Perform repairs by replacing worn parts, adjusting components, and utilizing specialized tools.
Conduct thorough inspections to identify potential problems before they become major issues.
Specialization Areas:
Diesel Engine Repair:
Deep understanding of diesel engine operation, maintenance, and overhaul procedures.
Electrical Systems:
Diagnose and repair complex electrical systems including wiring, sensors, and control modules.
Air Brake Systems:
Expertise in inspecting, adjusting, and repairing air brake components.
Hydraulic Systems:
Knowledge of hydraulic systems used in heavy-duty vehicles.
Important Considerations:
Licensing:
To work as a 310T Mechanic, individuals need to be certified with a 310T license.
Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues on heavy-duty vehicles, including engine problems, brake malfunctions, electrical faults, and transmission issues.
Perform repairs by replacing worn parts, adjusting components, and utilizing specialized tools.
Conduct thorough inspections to identify potential problems before they become major issues.
Preventative Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance tasks like oil changes, fluid level checks, tire pressure monitoring, and lubrication.
Follow established maintenance schedules to ensure optimal vehicle performance and longevity.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, parts used, and work hours. Input all required information using computer software.
Complete detailed reports on vehicle conditions and necessary repairs.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures while working on vehicles.
Ensure proper use of safety equipment and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Technical Skills:
Read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer repair manuals.
Utilize specialized diagnostic tools to pinpoint mechanical problems.
Proficiently use a variety of hand tools and power tools relevant to heavy-duty vehicle repair.
Customer Interaction:
Communicate effectively with customers to understand their concerns and explain necessary repairs.
Provide accurate estimates for repair costs.
