We operate two (2) adjoining properties - Sheraton Parkway Toronto North Hotel and Best Western Parkway Hotel, conveniently located at Highway 7 and Leslie Street in Richmond Hill. Accessible via YRT /VIVA transit, and Highways 7, 404 and 407. We offer complimentary staff parking, discounted health club membership, and food & beverage outlets. We have 30,000 sq. feet meeting/banquet space.

We are currently seeking 2 full time and 2 part time 2nd cooks to join our kitchen team.

The duties of 2nd Cook position include, but are not limited to the following:



1.Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food.

2. Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables

3. Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients

4. Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, and food preparation checklist.

5. Prepare cold foods.

6. Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers

7. Test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently.

8. Monitor food quality while preparing food

9. Set-up and break down work station

10.Serve food in proper portions onto proper receptacles/dishes.

11.Check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food.

12.Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional

13. Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Sous Chef, Executive Sous Chef, Executive Chef, General Manager, and/or owner.

Qualifications/ Requirements:



*Must have the ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

*The candidate should be available to work a variety of shifts ranging from as early as 6.30 A.M and as late as 11 pm The candidate should be available for AM and PM shifts

*Must be motivated to learn

*Must have over 5 years of Kitchen experience

*Must have the capability to effectively resolve issues through superior analytical skills with a strong focus and commitment to quality and guest service

*Must have a grade 12 diploma

*Experience working on line, production and pastry is an asset

*Must be a team player

*Must have Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities

*Food handler certificate

Physical:

This position involves reaching overhead, and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling and stooping. Move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $22.43 per hour

Expected hours: 16 - 40 per week
