Job Description


The Human Resources Consultant supports Interior Savings’ vision of sales & service excellence by providing professional human resources services, and assisting in promoting Interior Savings’ image as an employer of choice. Through strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills you will coordinate internal and external recruitment activities by creating and implementing effective candidate search techniques, job advertisements, interview tools and reference checking tools. You will receive and review staff requisitions and assure timely posting and short-listing of applicants and conduct reference checks, criminal record checks and credit bureau history reports. You will keep in regular contact with all parties; hiring managers, applicants, prospects, candidates and internal staff to assure the utmost confidentiality and consistency of communication during the process. With the ability to multitask and work well under pressure you will manage and follow-up on the progress of employees on probationary/trial/PIP plan. Review all performance review forms, and work with the Branches/Departments to rectify deficiencies. Provide constructive feedback to employees on achievement of positions and provide career development counseling upon request. You will guide staff and management on the application and understanding of all human resources policies. Through your proven ability in employee development, coaching and performance management you will assist the Learning and Development function with the creation of training plans for administrative positions. Monitor, hold meetings, follow-up and enforce plans. Assist by liaising with branches on training questions and concerns. Assist managers with employee performance concerns, the creation of job-share agreements and answer employee and manager inquiries on a day-to-day basis. Your above-average analytical and problem-solving abilities assist you coordinate and manage the process of internal transfers, demotions, and placement of staff returning from maternity leaves, leaves of absence and restructuring initiatives, as required. Through strong research and written skills you will build cover letters, performance improvement plans, set-up and deliver plan in conjunction with Branch/Department Managers. Provide current and terminated employee information to outside sources. This includes letters of confirmation, research, validation of dates, cause for dismissal, ROE direction. Research labour, and employee relations issues and respond in a timely manner to all Branches and Administration Departments in the region. You will also perform all other duties as assigned.


Experience

Preferred
  • CPHR designation considered an asset.
  • Experience in a ‘mixed model’ (union/non-union) environment an asset
  • Knowledge of all relevant employment law.
  • Experience and knowledge in recruiting, compensation, benefits, employee development and other HR concepts and processes.
  • 4-6 years of job-related experience within the Human Resources field.

Education

Preferred
  • Some college or better
