Are you passionate about working with children and creating memorable experiences?


As a Camp Counsellor, you will be at the heart of our summer camps, supervising campers and leading fun activities. Reporting to the Program Coordinator, Camp Counsellors are responsible for planning & implementing camp activities, engaging and interacting with participants and parents/guardians all while providing direction in a fun and enjoyable environment.


This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience, develop leadership skills, and make a positive impact in the lives of children.


Summer camps run June 2026 to September 2026. Mandatory staff training will take place evenings and weekends prior to Summer Camp.

What You Will Do




Ensure the safety, enjoyment, and care of registered participants in City of Oshawa camp programs Prepare and implement daily program plans that spark creativity and fun Respond to first aid situations Become familiar with City of Oshawa policies, procedures and emergency procedures and be able to implement such procedures (fire, power failure, building evacuation) Report all incidents, accidents, issues and concerns to the Program Coordinator - Complete all formal paperwork (accident, incident, complaint forms, weekly attendance) Answer questions and inquiries, while providing effective customer service to registrants/patrons of the program Ensure all equipment is prepared/put away during each session Support and demonstrate the City of Oshawa core values of Authenticity, Courage, and Trust Perform other duties as assigned

What We Are Looking For




Must be able to commit to the full term of employment beginning June 2026 through September 4 (June hours primarily occur on evenings and weekend to accommodate other commitments) Must be currently enrolled in school full-time or returning to school full-time in Fall 2026 Experience working with children Previous volunteer or employment in a camp or similar setting is considered an asset Must possess and keep current Standard First Aid & CPR 'C' certificate (or be willing to obtain prior to starting employment) Demonstrate strong customer service and communication skills to deal effectively and courteously with staff and the general public; strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships Attend all mandatory staff meetings and trainings, including evenings and weekends Ability to swim is required Ability to ice skate is considered an asset

As a condition of employment, the City of Oshawa will require successful candidates to provide a Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
