(formally known as FASD Life's Journey Inc.) is a non-profit Social Services Agency that provides support to individuals who are impacted by neuro-developmental disorders, including Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. Life's Journey strives towards a workforce that has fair representation of the community that we serve.





As an Indigenous Cultural Support Provider, you will provide direct indigenous cultural support to those individuals within our Residential, Outreach, Home Share, Spectrum Connections and Rural Connections Programs.



As an Indigenous Cultural Support Provider, you will;




Work effectively with other Indigenous Spiritual Care Services staff and Program Director to communicate effectively with all Life's Journey Inc staff.


Provide individualized traditional counselling assessment approach using the Medicine Wheel Philosophy at appointments with participants from the residential, home share, cluster homes, office appointments, and walk in appointments, and assist agency clinical teams to provide input into participant care plans


Demonstrate traditional cultural knowledge competence; participate in Indigenous ceremonies and agency training for development.


Aid in cultural ceremonies and practices


Have experience in facilitating wellness sharing circles, traditional drumming circles, smudge ceremonies, medicine picking and harvesting medicines.


Provide culturally appropriate supervision/leadership, coaching/guidance and feedback with participants and student placements


Understand and familiarize with participant's spiritual needs and clinical care plans


Assist the participants during times of crisis


Assist in the coordination and delivery of services, calendars, posters, emails, resources, and administration.


Complete daily general duties assigned.







As a Successful Candidate you will possess the following Qualifications and Experience

:





Experience with a traditional way of life; knowledgeable with the 7 Sacred Teachings, participating and/or attending ceremony, knowledgeable of Sundance Ceremony, being a helper, experience with sharing circles, drumming circles, and cultural activities etc.

Previous experience in related social service role, and/or education in a related field, demonstrated understanding of FASD/neural-behavioural, intellectual disabilities and issues.

Optimally, three years' experience in a related role and supporting individuals with disabilities

The ability to attend work regularly as scheduled and flexibility to attend evening ceremonies.

An understanding or previous experience with Harm Reduction techniques

Strong communication skills: Written and Verbal (English)

Ability to build strong, positive and professional relationships with others.

Demonstrate cultural knowledge competence and participate in agency training for development.

Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous historical trauma and intergenerational impacts. Able to sing indigenous songs and facilitate wellness circles and traditional drum circles. Knowledge of the 94 Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Report, Calls to Justice for the MMIW&G including 2SLGBTQQIA People and United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous People. Ability to present a Satisfactory Child and Adult Abuse Registry check, satisfactory Criminal Record Check (vulnerable sector search) and a satisfactory Driver's Abstract and Driver's License.

Hold a valid First Aid CPR Certificate

A safe and reliable vehicle with proof of appropriate insurance on vehicle (at least $2 Million, Third Party Liability)
