Overview
The OHS Coordinator will support the implementation of Saulteau First Nations' Occupational Health & Safety Program to help ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. Working closely with the OHS & Emergency Program Manager, this role helps ensure compliance with both federal and provincial safety regulations. The position also acts as a secondary lead in the Nation's Emergency Management Program, supporting community preparedness and response to emergencies like wildfires or severe weather. This is an office-based position with some local travel required
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordination and administrative support of OHS initiatives related to implementation or compliance with the SFN OHS Program.
Weekly and monthly based OHS inspections on various SFN Worksites
OHS assessments as required by legislation or SFN OHS Program including but not limited to annual Workplace Violence & Harassment assessments and Workplace First Aid Assessments.
OHS Incident Investigation
OHS Records Management
Chairing & Facilitation of the SFN Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee
Response and resolution of ad hoc OHS requests or issues
Administrative oversight and logistical support of OHS training initiatives for all staff
Championing and use and enforcement of the SFN OHS Program
Occasional policy and procedure updates in alignment with changes in applicable legislation, regulation, industry best practice, or 'best fit' solutions for SFN operations
Coordination and administrative support of initiatives (including funding projects) related to Saulteau First Nations Emergency Management Program.
Any other duties as required.
Ideal Qualifications and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
Class 5 Drivers License preferred
2+ years experience in a Health & Safety Role is advantageous
2+ years experience in an administrative, or office coordination role is advantageous
Any certifications in Occupational Health & Safety or Emergency Management are advantageous, not required.
Ideal Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Familiar / competent in Microsoft Office Suite (word, outlook, excel).

Work Conditions / Additional Requirements
Work is performed primarily in the office Monday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Travel may be required within SFN community and surrounding community.
Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
Physical capacity to tour work sites (walking, stair climbing, walking uneven terrains) is required.

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
Candidates must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector
Candidates must provide a current and satisfactory Driver's Abstract prior to employment
Wage Range: $31.92- $36.71/Hr.
