What We Do

There has never been a more exciting time to be at WAHA. We are an integrated health system providing the full continuum of care to the six communities of the western James Bay coast with over 500 employees, physicians, and partners in care. As a health authority, you will work in a unique setting where you have the opportunity to care for patients in all phases of their life journey, in all areas of their health experience. From Primary, Acute, and Mental Health, Dental, Specialty Clinics, Population Health and the WAHA Paramedic Service, the opportunities for growth are boundless. We provide community-based programming in all six of our communities, have six paramedic bases, three hospitals, four emergency departments, one community health centre and a total of 72 beds. Who You Are

Must be familiar with the Canada Food Guide, the preparation of meals according to special dietary needs Ability to work with minimal supervision Reliable and able to work all shifts Ability to lift 10 kg Ability to work as a team member

What You'll Do

Prepare meals as outlines on the daily menu Prepare food for special meeting and events Do preparation for the next day meals Always maintain a clean and sanitary workplace Report any safety issues to manager All other related duties as assigned

What You Bring

Successful completion of secondary school Completion of Culinary School is an asset and/or one year experience in volume cooking, preferably a hospital setting Possession of/or the ability to obtain Food Handler's Certificate is an asset Knowledge of dietary department procedures Knowledge in the proper handling and storage of food and able to follow the dietary sanitation code
