The Energy Management & Infrastructure Strategic Planning branch is the owner operator of all major utilities at the CRL site (Power, Steam, Water, Natural Gas, and more) and manages in the excess of $22M per year. Key areas of focus include:

  • Safe, efficient, and reliable operation of utilities (which includes both maintenance and engineering activities) with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainability
  • Strategic high level planning of changes to systems and services to support the successful revitalization of the CRL site. Examples of this includes: transition to a new switch yard and trigeneration plant, fast tracking the transition of the power house & switch yard to DWM, modification of systems and services to support building transition to DWM, providing recommendations on bridging projects to support the transition to a hydronic district energy system (DES), working with Capital Projects and consultants to support the installation of a new switch yard, energy plant, and system distribution.
  • Strategic asset management planning of assigned systems and services to meet branch and division targets while minimizing cost. Budgeting and managing of the branch as well as the costs associated with assigned system & services.
  • Primary contact internally and externally on matters related to energy & utility distribution. Providing the interface between internal organizations and Energy Suppliers such that future energy requirements are strategically identified, planned, and implemented.
  • Support CRL revitalization (Vision 2026) through transition of buildings to DWM and supporting capital renewal.
  • Acting as an operational client to new builds, ensuring that energy, sustainability, and safety have been factored into the design process and received from successful bidders.

What you will be doing:
  • Energy Management tracking, analysis, and forecasts (MS-excel / power point, Energy Star Portfolio Manager
  • Interfacing with stakeholders, updating the Energy Efficiency Plan & Sustainability
  • Execution of various actions associated with Energy Efficiency & Sustainability (ex. level II audits, electric vehicle charging stations, solar lighting, etc.
  • Maintenance engineering activities such as engineering activities, data analysis and optimization (ex. class III generators, class IV maintenance, pressure safety valves, pressure boundary, electrical safety)
  • Other entry level engineering work and support.
