The Environmental Remediation Management portfolio within Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) supports the Government of Canada\'s commitment to a clean and healthy environment for Canadians. Innovative technologies, modern facilities, and technical expertise are provided in support of the safe storage and long-term management of radioactive waste. Redundant buildings and infrastructure are decommissioned in a prioritized manner reducing the legacy liability and associated risks and site operating costs.

Douglas Point Waste Facility is situated within the Bruce Nuclear Generating Station site (BNGS) in Bruce County on the shores of Lake Huron in Ontario and currently consists of a permanently shut down, partially decommissioned prototype Canadian Deuterium Uranium (CANDU) Reactor and support structures. CNL manages the DPWF and is responsible for the maintenance of the entire site.

The Administrative Student will have a unique opportunity to learn administrative functions within the nuclear industry and provide support to the team currently implementing decommissioning activities.

The successful candidate for this position is expected to work predominantly at the Douglas Point Waste Facility supporting on-site staff. There may be the option of performing some work remotely.

What you will be doing:

  • Provides general administrative support to the Facility Manager, Business Coordinator, and staff.
  • Maintains hard and electronic copy filing systems and ensures efficient document storage and retrieval.
  • Provides assistance to the staff within the department with composing, formatting, and issuing of correspondence.
  • Obtains data, queries, and anomalies, and prepares reports in support of the Facility Manager, Business Coordinator, and staff.
  • Ensures adequate supplies of office materials by ordering stocks and purchasing other standard items as requested. Preparing requisitions and/or purchase orders.

  • Sound oral and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills for providing information services and customer inquiries.
  • Computer and software proficiency (MS Office).
  • Capable of working independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Good organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Good internet connectivity for remote access.
  • Ability to use general office equipment such as printers, photocopiers, and scanners.

Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom. Location:
CNL\xe2\x80\x99s Douglass Point Prototype Reactor (which has now entered the dismantling phase of decommissioning ETA 2070) is located on the Bruce Power site in Bruce County on the east shore of Lake Huron in the Province of Ontario, near the municipality of Kincardine, 2.5 hours north and west of Toronto.
