OVERVIEW: The Support Work Program requires several support workers to provide services to children and families. Our services include mentoring, facilitating family visits, and working with biological families to prevent the children from going into the care of Child and Family Services.
SERVICE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Committed to Shawenim Abinoojii’s mission and values in supporting family, cultural, and spiritual connections.
• Work independently with families while in the community and under minimal supervision.
• Engage in the required planning, transportation and supervision of families and children during visitation.
• Be a positive role model and source of guidance for children and families by demonstrating healthy boundaries and relationship building.
• Provide appropriate communication and documentation between Program Coordinators, Social Workers, and families where necessary.
• Adhere to Child and Family Services regulations and policies.
• Strong organizational, documentation and time management skills.
• Attend all requisite training provided by, or offered through, Shawenim Abinoojii Inc.

• Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
• Must provide a current satisfactory criminal record (including Vulnerable Sector), Child Abuse Registry and Prior Contact Checks as a condition of employment.
• Prior experience in the support services field considered an asset.
• Must be able to work as an effective and cooperative team member.
• Knowledge of basic parenting strategies, child development and/or attachment.
• Successful applicant(s) will also be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to start date.
