Job Description

The English and French Education, Programs, and Services divisions provide leadership, coordination, and support for kindergarten to Grade 12 teachers within the Public Schools Branch (PSB) and La Commission scolaire de langue francaise (CSLF).This position supports teachers in implementing integrated curricula in elementary and consolidated schools and French Immersion Language Arts.


Duties will include but are not limited to:




Review and evaluate instructional resources to ensure curriculum materials are relevant, inclusive, and aligned with best practices; Collaborate with teachers, subject specialists, and department teams to ensure cohesive curriculum planning and implementation. Lead the development, writing, and revision of integrated curriculum documents for Grade 1 to Grade 6; Support elementary teachers in delivering the integrated curriculum using effective, inquiry-based instructional strategies. Provide ongoing support for the instruction and assessment of French Language Arts for French Immersion students in Grades 7-12; Serve as a resource on current trends and evidence-based practices in curriculum, instruction and assessment; Plan, lead, and facilitate professional development and ongoing learning opportunities related to curriculum delivery, instruction, and assessment; Work collaboratively with other consultants to strengthen instructional practices and student learning outcomes across subject areas; Liaise with the English and French Education, Program and Services teams to address challenges and align curriculum initiatives with broader system goals and departmental priorities; Support Department of Education and Early Years literacy initiatives through research-informed strategies and practices; Evaluate and maintain an up-to-date list of authorized learning resources, including digital and print materials; Provide informed advice to the Directors on priorities and issues related to the Elementary Integrated and French Immersion Language Arts curriculum; Lead the development and facilitation of ongoing professional learning for integrated curriculum; and Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:




Applicants must have a degree in Education, preferably at the Masters level. Applicants must hold, or be eligible to hold a PEI Teacher's Academic Certificate Level 5 or higher. Recent experience teaching French as a second language. Demonstrated experience integrating learning outcomes into elementary curriculum delivery, with preference for recent upper elementary teaching experience. Curriculum development experience. Superior level of French oral proficiency is required. Bilingual proficiency with excellent written communication skills in both French and English. Strong knowledge of best practices in second language acquisition and instruction. Proven leadership, conflict resolution, and team-building skills. Excellent interpersonal and collaborative abilities. Valid driver's license and access to a reliable transportation. Acceptable criminal record check required prior to employment. Strong record of attendance and professional conduct.

Other Qualifications:




Knowledge of current literacy practices gained through graduate work or additional training would be considered an asset. Master's level training in technology education is considered an asset. Knowledge and experience with integrating technology into the classroom to enhance learning are assets. Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.
