It is PSBs primary focus to foster inclusive, diverse, safe and caring learning environments that inspire a commitment to lifelong learning and community engagement as we prepare successful global citizens for our ever-changing world.The PSB is seeking a Director of Student Services, who will have responsibility for overseeing and managing a wide range of student support services within its 56 schools and numerous alternative education sites and programming. The Director provides overall leadership and coordination of services for students through liaising with families, school and board staff, community partners, government agencies and other stakeholders in related areas.As the Director of Student Services, you will report to the Director of the Public Schools Branch. You will be a highly organized and versatile professional, providing leadership, supervision, motivation, and guidance to the Student Services team.Why Work for PSB?

What Your Role Will Look Like
  • Development of long-term plans and strategies for the management, evaluation and improvement of inclusive education and student services programming;
  • Coordinate, lead, supervise, and evaluate the delivery of student support services;
  • Providing leadership to Student Services team, including direct supervision, mentorship, coaching and identifying training and development needs and opportunities as well as setting growth plans, goals and expectations of employees within Student Services team;
  • Provide advice and support to principals, teachers, families, and other directors on matters related to the provision of inclusive education including programming, instruction, placement and access for students with special needs;
  • Further the goals of the provincial education system and to work collaboratively with the Department of Education and Early Years and other educational partners to ensure a high-quality inclusive education system and efficient support services;
  • Collaborate with HR in matters pertaining to instructional and instructional support staffing and performance;
  • Respond to Human Rights concerns for student related matters;
  • Management of resources, financial and human, related to the delivery of student support services;
  • Respond to media inquiries pertaining to matters related to Student Services;
  • Building and maintaining relationships with external key interest holders, including various levels of government, government department and agencies as well as community partners and organizations;
  • Provide advice and assistance to the PSB in the formulation of policy as it relates to student support services;
  • Provide leadership for the professional development needs for board and school-based student services staff including consultants, resource teachers, school counsellors, and instructional support staff;
  • Coordinate the provision of services for at-risk students,
  • Oversee Branch and school-based emergency and crisis management response planning and initiatives;
  • Ensure delivery of quality school counselling programs, resource programs, and other programs related to specific student learning needs;
  • Oversee and provide for the supervision of 14 alternative education sites:
  • Ensure and support the development of academic learning plans, student specific adaptations, and individual education plans, and transition planning:
  • Administer the student transfer policy, student exchange programs, and district tutoring program;
  • Supervise the annual Special Needs Assignment Process (SNAP) and the assignment of resources to schools;
  • Perform any other related tasks.
What You Will Bring to the Team
  • Successful completion of a Master of Education supplemented by pertinent course work and training;
  • Extensive experience working within K-12 school environment;
  • Experience working within a Leadership role within a K-12 school environment;
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of inclusive education principles and practices;
  • Demonstrated equivalencies may be considered;
  • Team player with experience collaborating with variety of internal and external interest holders;
  • Critical judgement and skills in dealing with highly confidential and complex issues;
  • Strong organizational skills applicable to the current dynamic and challenging environment;
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills are essential as well as excellent word processing, database management and spreadsheets (Excel) skills*;
  • Experience creating detailed reports, analyzing complex data and synthesizing data clearly;
  • Experience creating and disseminating effective communications through multiple mechanisms;
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of the diversity of needs and evidence-based interventions appropriate to the learning disabilities and learning difficulties found among student population;
  • Experience working with schools in the areas of individualized educational planning;
  • Experience managing employees in a unionized workplace;
  • Demonstrates the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, establish priorities and meet tight deadlines;
  • Demonstrates the ability to be resourceful, innovative and positively influence others in their work;
  • Be able to travel as needed;
Itd also be nice to have
  • Extensive School Counselling and/or Special Education work experience in the public and/or private education sectors;
  • Currently holds or is eligible to hold a PEI Teacher Level 6 Certification;
