Reporting to the Director of Pharmaceutical Services, the Pharmaceutical Services Data Coordinator & Analyst reviews Pharmacy Health Services data, interprets findings, and promotes system improvement through public awareness, contributions to policy development, and operational review of inter-provincial agreements. The incumbent is responsible for IAAPD reporting and analytics, Pharmacy Plus reporting and analytics as well as other Pharmaceutical Services and Pharmacare reporting. Serves as a resource in the management and oversight of Pharmaceutical Services in accordance with applicable legislation, regulation, contracts, policies, and standards.


Temporary Full-Time Commencing Immediately for one year with possible extension




Duties will include but are not limited to:




Coordinates and manages Department access to multiple data sources and databases pertinent to Pharmaceutical Services. Coordinates data to provide decision support to the Division Participates or leads education, research, or additional projects requiring Pharmacy data and decision support. Interprets data analysis from various sources to provide direction on optimal patient care including established key performance indicators. Contributes to policy development by performing data analysis required to inform decision making. Provides data analysis to support compliance of contractual performance indicators or other quality assurance requirements. Contributes to strategic direction, planning, policy development, and evaluation of data structures for Pharmaceutical Services. Supports patient safety related continuous professional development for pharmacy and other health care providers. Provides advice on legislative or regulatory landscape in Canada and internationally. Contributes to federal, provincial, Atlantic working groups. Supports Department to develop programs centred on patient safety and pharmacy services offered on PEI. Other duties as required.




Minimum Qualifications:




Applicant must possess a Bachelor degree in IT, Computer Science of Data Management or equivalent. Five years of experience working in data coordination and analytics field. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the health care system in Prince Edward Island; specifically health and pharmaceutical services. Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered. Proficient skills in statistical analysis and data management (SAS, R, Strata, or SPSS), particularly using Structured Query Language (SQL). Proficient use of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Access. Demonstrated ability to work in high-pace and self-directed environment - ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines by applying critical thinking and problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to lead or facilitate groups including presentation skills. Understanding of responsibilities of a health custodian to maintain privacy and confidentiality of personal health information. Excellent inter-personal, verbal, written and electronic communication skills. A good previous work and attendance record. The successful candidate must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check prior to commencement of employment.
