What Are We Looking For?
FortisAlberta is looking for a Term Supply Chain Procurement Work Leader to provide advanced support and direction in Materials Management. The position will resolve complex issues and ensure corporate Materials Management standards and goals are met. In addition, this role is responsible for supporting the success of the Procurement group through training and process improvement.

The Supply Chain Procurement Work Leader will assist the Manager of Procurement and Contracts in the development of procurement strategies and planning of operational and project activities as well as train and counsel the Procurement group to ensure individual, team and operational goals are met. This position will need to provide advice and knowledge to our internal stakeholders on a variety of inventory related topics such as forecasting, Material Requirements Planning (MRP), count and reconciliation processes.


Acting as a Supply Chain Liaison with Field Operations, this position will provide Material Management support and training regarding stock replenishments, material breakdowns and new practices around material stocking as well as act as a point of escalation for complex problems and providing timely resolution.


The Supply Chain Procurement Work Leader will work with IT to identify system improvements and solutions and complete associated testing requirements and provide support and training on SAP Materials Management (MM) module to all Users; document new reports and processes. Additionally, this position will run reports and perform within SAP: Moving Average Price adjustments, Risk Assessment, Material Item Catalogue, Material Write-offs, Mass Updates, ABC analysis, Material Master cleanup and accuracy.


The Supply Chain Procurement Work Leader will need to create and maintain process maps for all Procurement processes, build and maintain relationships with Procurement group/Inventory Control group and create customized Business Warehouse reports for internal stakeholders. Other responsibilities include document processes, run reports, enter transactions and provide support to warehouse & field staff during physical Inventory Counts and Reconciliation.


This role will also administer Material Document process, build and maintain internal relationships while developing practices and consistent interpretation of processes for implementation and use in the Procurement group and represent the Supply Chain team on special projects and cross function teams. Special projects and other duties, as assigned.

  • Advanced ability to resolve complex problems and identify areas for continuous improvement with professionalism and thorough understanding of industry and company drivers and requirement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to clearly present data into actionable information to a wide range of audiences in both formal and informal settings
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities within tight deadlines and with a high level of accuracy and professionalism
  • Ability to take ownership and responsibility of tasks, generate solutions and delivers on commitments
  • Advanced skills in SAP Business Warehouse (BW) transactions (including but not limited to; stock overview, goods forecasting, reservations, issues, receipts, returns)
  • Advanced skills of SAP Materials Management module (Inventory Management, Purchasing, MRP, Warehouse Management, Procurement)
  • Excellent ability to develop and maintain effective business relationships with stakeholders, internal customers, vendors, team members; this includes effective coaching and strong team building skills
  • Advanced skills in Office 365 applications (Excel, Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) Power BI is an advantage.
  • Advanced knowledge of Inventory Planning, SAP Work Management, Demand Management, Logistic Planning, and strategies
  • Verifiable experience and understanding of the Procurement and Supply Chain Management function, value, policies, practices, procedures, end-to-end processes, and controls


Qualifications we are looking for:
  • A Degree or Diploma in Business or related discipline plus a Professional Certificate in Supply Chain Management and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in Inventory Control is required. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in a leadership role or a Leadership certificate would be considered an asset
  • Certificate in Business Analysis or Data Analytics would be an asset
  • Project Management certificate or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation would be considered an asset
  • Completed or currently enrolled in a Supply Chain Management Designation program would be an asset (SCMP, CSCP, CPIM, SCOR-P, CPSM, CPSD, CSCMP, MCIPS)
  • Experience working in a regulated environment, preferably within the electrical utility industry

  • Travel within Alberta may be required (limited)
