About the opportunity

The School of Dental Hygiene, Faculty of Dentistry, Dalhousie University, is seeking applications for a dental hygiene educator position at the rank of Assistant Professor, probationary tenure-stream. The appointment will commence as early as July 1, 2024 or as soon as reasonably possible thereafter.

Responsibilities will include didactic, pre-clinical, and clinical teaching in all aspects of the School of Dental Hygiene programs, and those aspects integrated with the Dentistry programs. Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.

The successful applicant will have a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist and must be eligible for licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in Nova Scotia. Preference will be given to applicants who are authorized to administer local anaesthetic. Applicants must hold a thesis-based Master\'s degree (or higher), or be enrolled in such a program with intent to complete within 12 months. Strong preference will be given to those with doctoral level research training, or who are enrolled in such a program with intent to complete within 12 months. The candidate must have completed at least one course or certificate in teaching methodology. Candidates with experience in didactic, pre-clinical, and clinical teaching in a dental hygiene program are preferred. A knowledge of dental software will be considered an asset. Demonstration of strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
