Windsor International Airport ("YQG") is currently recruiting for the position of Human Resource Manager / Generalist. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services/CFO, the HR Manager/Generalist is responsible for ensuring corporate compliance with all regulatory aspects of the Canada Labour Code and Regulations, Human Rights Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, corporate policies and procedures, and other industry standards as necessary. This position will also be responsible for the administration and maintenance of employee files, benefit and pension administration, recruitment activities, employee and labour relations, health and safety program administration and other workforce development matters.
General Responsibilities:
Oversee the end-to-end recruitment process, including identifying, evaluating, coordinating, interviewing, and verifying candidate references
Provide HR support to all departments of the organization
Perform tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, occupational health and safety, training and development, etc.
Act as an advisor by providing advice guidance and/or coaching on sensitive, confidential and complex HR issues, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and other regulatory employment and human rights requirements
Maintain an effective health and safety program including development, implementation and maintenance of health and safety policies and procedures
Maintain and administer the corporate employee wellness program
Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form including maintenance of human resources information systems
Providing HR and administrative support in collective bargaining
Provide guidance to management staff in the consistent application and interpretation of the collective bargaining agreement
Participating as an Employer representative on the Union Management Committee
Participate in the administration of the Collective Agreement's grievance and arbitration procedures
Participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations as required
Remain current on HR best practices and ensure compliance with legislative requirements
Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in Human Resources, ideally with a CHRL or CHRP designation (or in progress).
5 + years of hands-on HR experience within a unionized environment, with a focus on recruitment, employee relations, health and safety and compliance.
Experience in the administration of collective bargaining agreements.
Broad knowledge of HR practices including talent acquisition, compensation, performance management, succession planning, leadership development, employee relations, change management and organizational development.
Proficient time management skills and flexibility in adjusting between a variety of duties
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community; effective conflict resolution and/or mediation skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HR and payroll system
