About the Role:
Reporting to the Director of Community Relations, the Youth Workers are an integral part of the team, responsible for and committed to engagement and mentorship to youth in their artistic endeavors, utilizing creative approaches, trauma-aware practices and harm reduction. The Youth Worker develops and maintains healthy relationships and ethical mentorship with youth and provides support to the other iHuman staff, collaborating in the wrap-around services of the organization, tailoring positive and effective outcomes for the youth..
We are hiring for 2 positions. One position is temporary working full time for 3 months with the possibility of an extension. The second position is a full time permanent role. Both positions work 37.5 hours/week from Monday to Friday, working primarily daytime hours with occasional evenings and weekend hours required.

What you would do:
Implementation of iHuman's arts programming to support youth artists with their projects
Assist with the facilitation of workshops, planning, promotion, and execution of iHuman Studio's events, productions, and exhibitions with internal and external stakeholders
Upkeep of studio space and equipment and inventory
Connect youth with other iHuman services and supports to best meet their needs
Collaborate with the iHuman team to best support the youth receiving assistance from the organization which may include expanding community partnerships and building solid relationships for the future
Duty to report concerning behavior and activities regarding youth safety
Complete documentation and reports as required
Support volunteers by providing guidance on their tasks for the day when required
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum completed Diploma in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or other related Human Services education
Artistic knowledge and skill in a diverse range of artistic visual practices and sewing and fashion is an asset
Experience working with traumatized and marginalized youth from a harm reduction approach
Able to forge engaging and trusting relationships with young people between the ages of 12-24 while maintaining healthy professional boundaries, trauma-aware philosophy and practice
Skills in supportive listening, de-escalation, relationship building, suicide prevention, and risk assessment
Strong relationship building skills
Effectively manage professional boundaries
Computer competency with Mac and PC
Have a clear criminal record check and child intervention check
Must have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
Hourly Wage:
$19-$21.50/hour
