Position Summary We Wai Kai Nation is seeking a Youth Worker responsible for planning, implementing, and reporting activities for young members of our community to support and enhance these measures of health and well being. As our Youth Worker, you will: \xc2\xb7 Plan, organize, adhere to a budget, implement, and report social, athletic, and cultural programs and gatherings for school-age community members \xc2\xb7 Provide supervision to children and youth, demonstrate leadership, positive role modelling and a sense of direction \xc2\xb7 Conduct needs assessments and meet educational and cultural targets \xc2\xb7 Provide transportation to programs and other events \xc2\xb7 Assist with fundraising activities \xc2\xb7 Cleaning and organizing the youth room \xc2\xb7 Weekly grocery shops \xc2\xb7 Daily food prep \xc2\xb7 Inventory of supplies and equipment \xc2\xb7 Willing to work with other organizations within the community \xc2\xb7 Ensure safety compliances are upheld \xc2\xb7 All other duties as assigned Qualifications: Preferred qualifications of Youth Workers \xc2\xb7 Post-secondary education in a related field such as ECE/child development, human services, sociology, physical education, coaching \xc2\xb7 Grade 12 graduation \xc2\xb7 Experience as an early childhood educator, teacher\xe2\x80\x99s aide, education assistant, coach, youth recreation leader \xc2\xb7 Experience with food preparation and the Food Safe certificate program \xc2\xb7 Training in communications, interpersonal relationships, and conflict resolution/problem solving \xc2\xb7 Understanding and appreciation of the cultural values of the Nation, including language, and willingness to build these values into youth programming \xc2\xb7 Ability and willingness to demonstrate a physically active lifestyle \xc2\xb7 Knowledge, training, and time management skills required to organize, develop, and deliver social, cultural, and other programs and events \xc2\xb7 Superior communications, human relations, motivational, and organizational skills \xc2\xb7 Responsible, reliable, trustworthy \xc2\xb7 Flexible work practices \xe2\x80\x93 to lead, to work independently, and to cooperate as a team member, as required \xc2\xb7 Office procedures and computer skills, including MSOffice \xc2\xb7 First-aid qualification \xc2\xb7 Clean criminal record \xc2\xb7 BC class 4 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license (or willing to obtain) and a clean driving record \xc2\xb7 Positive and respectful outlook towards their job, other employees, and the youth they serve \xc2\xb7 Adherence to the workplace rules and policies of the Nation, the established procedures related to this position, and to generally accepted work practices related to respectful and cooperative team performance Job Type: Full time - Permanent Please submit your cover letter and resume to careers@wewiaikai.com Posting closes on June 9, 2023 Only those selected for interviews will be contacted Job Type: Full-time Salary: $24.00-$26.00 per hour Benefits:
