Youth Volunteer Skating Programs

Job Description

Skating Program Volunteers assist leaders with preparing and implementing a variety of skating programs for children ages 3-5Y or 6-12Y.


Responsibilities:



Wear proper skating attire including a CSA-certified winter helmet and properly fitted skates (volunteer must provide their own) Looking over the lesson plans so you are aware of the activities scheduled for that day. Actively participate on the ice and assist participants in programs. Aid in the set-up and take-down of any equipment associated with the program. Supervise the participants and ensure they are following safety rules and guidelines both on and off the ice. Be aware of safety and emergency procedures. Assist by being a great role model: listen to the leader(s), sit with the group during instructions, etc. Help with any demonstrations or instructions as requested by the leader(s). Give positive feedback to participants. Be enthusiastic!

Work Term:




September - June. + September-December: 1 shift/week on

Saturday mornings only.

+ January-June: 2 shifts/week required with evenings and weekends available.
Shifts are 2-3 hours long.

Qualifications/ Skills Required:




Between 13 and 17 years of age. Completion of minimum of Emergency First Aid with CPR C. Completion of Volunteer Training - Provided by Westside. * Proficient skating ability.
