We are looking for enthusiastic, experienced, and motivated individuals to join us in casual or part-time roles as
Youth Support Workers
across our programs, which include the Emergency Overnight Shelter, Dorms, Semi-Independent Living Program, and Youth Centre.
Our programs help youth develop independence, reconnect with family or other important relationships, and build skills to thrive in the community, all within a safe and supportive housing environment.
Home Base provides a thorough onboarding process, including four foundational training modules, shadow shifts across all program areas, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
Responsibilities
Supervision of youth across 8-10hr shifts (days, evenings, overnights/ weekdays & weekends*) Support youth to meet the goals of their of a service plan with the goal of transitioning to semi or independent living
Connect youth to resources in the community not limited to education, employment, housing, life skills, addictions, and mental health
Assist with the shared caseload of 10 youth as needed
Daily communication and interaction with youth in residence
As needed Contact with support services (guardian, YHSSA, Justice, School, Employers), and other professionals and support services that may become involved with the youth
Provide transportation as needed to assist youth to attend school/tutor/work, scheduled appointments, court, community and organizational programming outside the Home Base Dorms
Engage with youth to participate in cultural, educational, mental health & addictions, personal coaching, recreational and social programming provided by specialized HBYK staff
Ensure HBYK is a safe space for all, including 2SLGBTQQIPAA+ persons
Risk, Conflict and Crisis Management

The successful candidate will bring with them
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Degree or Diploma, including but not limited to: Youth Work, Social Work, Criminology, Education, Recreation (asset*) Minimum of 1 year experience working in a similar role/environment
Relevant lived experience will be assessed on a case by case basis
