The successful candidate will have the following:Post-secondary diploma/degree in recreation, outdoor pursuits, physical literacy, or equivalent is considered an assetMinimum of 1-2 years working in a supervisory capacity within an organization providing services for children and youthKnowledge and experience facilitating and planning strength-based recreation and youth engagement programming, that includes sport and physical activityCustomer service experience and/or experience working in a health-focused industry or recreational facilityDemonstrate skills in youth behaviour managementExperience working in an effective team to collaboratively achieve desired outcomesDemonstrates skills in community engagementExperience in staff/volunteer supervision and developmentEmbrace innovation and be willing to take initiativeSkilled at working independently and within a team environmentExcellent organizational skills and ability to multi-taskComputer skills including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and OutlookCurrent Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector SearchThree professional referencesWhat does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?Duties and Responsibilities include;Plan and deliver recreation programs for children & youth regionally at different YMCA locationsProactively engage with and solicit feedback from youthManage equipment, supply, and program budgetsRecruit, develop, and oversee a team of volunteersAdministrative duties including program statistics, participant communication, data entry, and reportingEnsure the safety and well-being of participants at all timesImplement all health and safety systems, policies, and proceduresBe a YMCA Calgary annual campaign ambassador and share YMCA storiesMaintain positive relationships with relevant stakeholders in Calgary communitiesOther branch or association duties as requiredWhat qualities do we look for in YMCA Calgary Staff and Volunteers?Our diverse team of staff and volunteers are committed to making a positive impact in the community.
