General Position Overview

The Youth Services Navigator will require a thorough understanding of the unique and challenging lifestyle experienced by CAF and Veteran youth and their families. The Youth Services Navigator will provide information, education, referrals, activities and groups that promote the development of connection, resilience and access to resources for military youth who are experiencing the challenges of relocation, absence and/or transition.

Hours of Work

This is a full-time position at thirty-seven (37.5) hours per week to cover a parental leave, and the hours of work are structured based on the needs of the program and may include evening and weekend work as required.

Qualifications and Competencies

The Youth Services Navigator will;

have a post secondary diploma/degree in Child and Youth Services or Social Services from a recognized College/University, or equivalent education and experience in a related field; have a minimum of two (2) years experience working with youth six (6) to eighteen (18) years of age; have a minimum of two (2) years experience developing and delivering programs to youth ages six to eighteen years; have an exceptional understanding of the unique challenges facing youth of CAF and Veteran families; have a thorough understanding of MFRC, Military and community organizations and resources to appropriately provide referrals to services and supports for CAF and Veteran youth; be fluent in oral and written English; fluency in oral and written French will be considered an asset; a high degree of interpersonal and communication skills; have the ability to manage change and work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment; be proficient in various computer applications and the have ability to adapt to new applications as they become available; have an approved criminal reference check and a vulnerable sector screen.
