About the Role





The Youth Programs Facilitator designs and delivers programming that supports newcomer youth in building confidence, developing leadership skills, and strengthening community connections. The role delivers structured and adaptable workshops, group activities, and experiential learning using a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based approach.



As part of the Global Youth team, the Facilitator contributes to youth-driven programming that reflects the interests, experiences, and identities of newcomer youth.

What You'll Do





In this role, you will:


Facilitate engaging, youth-centered workshops, activities, and group discussions. Adapt learning content to meet diverse cultural backgrounds, language levels, and accessibility needs. Build supportive, trusting relationships with newcomer youth through mentorship and one-on-one check-ins. Coordinate program sessions, logistics, transportation, supplies, and guest speakers. Support gender-specific and identity-specific programming. Develop program materials, tools, and shared resources for the youth team. Maintain culturally safe, trauma-informed, and inclusive program environments. Document participation and program activity to support evaluation and reporting. Cultivate partnerships with community organizations to expand youth opportunities.

What You Bring





We recognize that people develop skills through both formal learning and hands-on experience. Success in this role blends facilitation expertise with youth programming experience.

Minimum Requirements




Diploma

in Child & Youth Care, Education, Human Services, Community Development, Social Sciences, or a related field;

OR

an equivalent combination of training, education, and practical experience.

Three (3) or more years

of experience facilitating youth programs, workshops, or group activities. Experience working directly with

immigrant, refugee, and culturally diverse youth

, with an understanding of the opportunities and barriers newcomer youth encounter when settling in a new country. Demonstrated ability to design, adapt, and deliver program content to meet varied learning styles, cultural backgrounds, and developmental needs. Experience coordinating program logistics, partnerships, and activity planning. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust while maintaining professional boundaries.
Proficiency in digital tools, including Microsoft 365, virtual facilitation platforms, and program databases (e.g., iSTEDY or similar).

Mandatory Screening:

+ Clear Police Information Check (PIC) with Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
+ Clear Child and Youth Intervention Record Check (CYIR)

Preferred / Asset Qualifications




Sector certifications such as the Certified Settlement Practitioner (AAISA) or Settlement Studies Certificate (NorQuest College). Training in youth engagement, group facilitation, restorative practices, or conflict resolution. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) or Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST). Multilingual ability Class 5 driver's licence and reliable transportation.

Global Youth provides newcomer youth with welcoming, youth-driven spaces to learn, grow, and build community. Programming includes experiential learning, leadership development, cultural exploration, identity-affirming activities, gender-specific groups, and partnership-based community engagement. Programs are co-created with youth and grounded in prevention, inclusion, and human-centred design.
