Overview

Programs Director

The Youth Programs Coordinator is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing programs aimed at youth aged 13 to 30. This role focuses on promoting personal growth, leadership, and community engagement among participants while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. Working closely with the community partners, staff, youth participants, families and volunteers, the Youth Programs Coordinator ensures that programs align with the organization's mission and respond to the needs of the youth in the community.

This position requires the Coordinator to be on-site, in person, to provide direct support to the Youth Programs team and members. The regular work schedule is Tuesday to Friday from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, based on program needs.



Key Responsibilities



Program Development & Delivery



Design, implement, and oversee educational, recreational, and social programs tailored to youth needs, ensuring inclusivity and alignment with BGC Dawson's mission and values. Regularly assess and adapt programs and activities based on feedback and emerging trends to remain relevant to youth interests.

Youth Engagement



Build strong, supportive relationships with youth participants to encourage active participation and personal development. Create opportunities to promote leadership, teamwork, and community involvement through structured activities and events.

Supervision of Staff



Supervise, train, and provide ongoing support to program staff and volunteers to ensure high standards of care and program delivery. Ensure staff are equipped with the skills and resources needed to deliver high-quality programs. Conduct regular check-ins and performance evaluations to foster staff development and ensure alignment with program goals.

Community Collaboration



Develop partnerships with local schools, organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance program offerings and address emerging community needs. Represent the organization at community events and networking opportunities to strengthen to strengthen connections and partnerships.

Teamwork & Collaboration



Work collaboratively with the Programs Team, including the Programs Director and other coordinators, to promote teamwork and ensure seamless integration of programs across all age groups. Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment that fosters mutual support and shared success.

Event Coordination



Plan and supervise seasonal events, special programming workshops, and outings to provide diverse experiences and foster a sense of belonging among youth participants. Manage logistics, such as schedules, supplies, transportation and communications, to ensure successful execution of events and activities.

Behavior Management



Implement positive behavior management strategies to foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants.

Program Evaluation & Reporting



Maintain programs records, collect and analyze data to evaluate program outcomes and ensure continuous improvement. Prepare reports and updates for funders, stakeholders, and the Programs Director as required.

Administrative Tasks



Maintain accurate records of program attendance, participant feedback, related metrics, purchases, including receipts and purchase orders, and provide these to the Programs Director for review and approval. Assist in preparing grant applications and proposals to support program funding.

Compliance, Policy Promotion, and EDI Practices



Ensure all organizational policies and procedures are actively promoted, implemented, and respected within all aspects of program delivery and staff interactions. Uphold and model the organization's commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) by fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and equitable environment for participants, families, staff, and community partners. Provide ongoing guidance and support to staff and volunteers to ensure compliance with workplace safety, confidentiality, and ethical standards. Actively contribute to creating and maintaining a culture that values diverse perspectives and promotes inclusive practices in all operations and decision-making processes.

Skills



Strong program development and evaluation skills tailored to youth. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities to balance multiple priorities. Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with youth, families, staff and community partners. Excellent communication skills in both French and English. Leadership and team management skills to supervise and support staff effectively. Ability to foster collaboration and promote teamwork across departments. Problem-solving and adaptability to address challenges creatively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems and software. Understanding of behavior management techniques to foster a positive learning environment.

Qualifications



Education:

DEC in Youth Work, Recreation, Social Work, or a related field.

Experience:

At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role working with youth aged 13-30.

Other Requirements:

Certification in First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain). Ability to pass a criminal background check.
