BGC Weston Mount Dennis & Lawrence Heights Club proudly serves children and youth in the Lawrence Heights, Weston Mount Dennis, and surrounding communities. We deliver inclusive, culturally relevant programming that supports the social, physical, educational, and emotional development of youth.
We are currently seeking passionate, motivated individuals to join our team as
Youth Mentors
for the 2025-2026 school year. The successful candidate will support youth aged 13-17 through structured programming, mentorship, leadership development, and community-based engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day operations of the
Humber Youth Program
and Weston Mount Dennis Youth Center programs, ensuring smooth and effective delivery.
Facilitate youth programming using BGC Canada-approved program manuals, including This Way Onward, Learn ON, and R2 Resilience*. Lead Thursday programming at
Humber Youth
, including the
Master Chef cooking program
, supporting youth to develop life skills and teamwork.
Co-create additional programs tailored to youth interests, while aligning with BGC Canada's strategic goals and youth development outcomes.
Support and coordinate with external partners and facilitators during workshops and special events, ensuring youth participation and smooth logistics.
Build meaningful relationships with youth participants while maintaining professional boundaries and serving as a positive role model.
Identify trends and emerging needs, and provide feedback to inform program planning and development.
Complete administrative responsibilities in a timely and organized manner, including attendance, incident reporting, inventory tracking, and evaluations.
Ensure that program areas remain clean, organized, and safe, with equipment properly maintained and stored.
Collaborate closely with the
Youth Coordinator
to support strategic planning, partnership development, and community outreach.
Uphold organizational policies, confidentiality, and health and safety procedures at all times.
Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and Club-wide initiatives.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
HIGH FIVE: Principles of Healthy Child Development Certification
- Required
Standard First Aid & CPR Level C
- Required
Valid Ontario
Class "G" Driver's License
and access to a vehicle (asset)
Post-secondary education in social work, child and youth care, recreation, education, or a related field
Minimum 2 years of experience delivering youth-focused programs in community or educational settings
Proven ability to facilitate structured curriculum-based programs and adapt to the needs of youth
Experience with BGC Canada programming such as Learn ON, This Way Onward, and the R2 Resilience Approach(asset)
Familiarity with cooking programs and life skill development (asset)
Strong communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills
Experience supporting diverse and equity-deserving youth populations
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to work effectively within an
anti-racist, anti-oppressive framework
Successful completion of a
Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
