Job Summary:
The Youth Program Facilitators will support students in learning English, enhancing their social and emotional development, and engaging in physical activities. We will run two groups throughout the summer. The Youth Program Facilitators will be responsible for creating and delivering engaging English literacy lessons for a 9-week instructional program aimed at newcomer youth. The classes will be delivered twice weekly to two groups - Ages 8-10 and Ages 11-12 - of approximately 20 students per group.
Your Role:
Planning and facilitating activities for children that will help them to improve their English, while focusing on social and emotional learning.
Planning and facilitating safe and engaging indoor and outdoor games to keep the children physically active.
Preparing healthy and culturally appropriate snacks and cleaning up food preparation and eating areas.
Meeting with parents at pick-up times to discuss child and/or family needs and making referrals to appropriate services within the community, including services offered by Archway.
Participating in recreational activities, outings, and field trips and making appropriate linkages to classroom learning.
Keeping track of participant attendance and connecting with participants who are frequently missing classes.
This position is a great fit for someone who has a background in classroom instruction, has experience working with newcomer children or youth, is creative, energetic, and is able to engage and motivate children and youth.
Our Offer
Wage: $23.46 per hour.
A part-time position at 30 hours per week, availability Mondays to Thursdays, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Getting an Interview - you will be considered if you have:
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience engaging with children ages 6 to 12 from diverse backgrounds.
Experience in providing activities for up to 15 children per group.
Fluency in English and an additional language is an asset.
A valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and satisfactory driver's abstract.
The Job Requires you to have:
Good computer skills; able to use Microsoft Office365.
Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, experiences, and levels of English.
Ability to plan, organize, manage time and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of the Abbotsford area.
Ability to work with participants outdoors during excursions and field trips.
Ability to work over the summer, which may involve extreme heat conditions during outdoor excursions and field trips.
Ability to drive for program related work, which requires the use of a personal vehicle which can be insured according to Archway's transportation policy.
Lived experience as a newcomer to Canada is an asset.
First Aid and CPR Certification is an asset.
A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is a condition of employment.
