YFS has been dedicated to implementing and measuring the Youth Development Strategy throughout the last four years, with the goal of ever-reflecting the current needs of the community of youth being served.
We are currently seeking an outstanding Youth Mentorship Program Worker to join our agency wide 'youth success' strategy dedicated to the empowerment, support and skill building of young people and the prevention of youth violence. The Youth Mentorship Program Worker will assist and support high risk youth in accessing adult mentors; engage with mentors, work with community partners, and provide overall administrative support to the Youth Mentorship Program.
Responsibilities:
Participates in the overall planning and implementation of all Youth Mentorship programming, workshops, and events
Prepares program reviews, and quarterly reports as required, ensuring that all documentation and service statistics are completed in a timely manner
Responsible for quantitative data collection
Supports the tracking of all data, activities, their outcomes and feedback throughout the mentoring process in order to best plan and improve our overall impact
oConducts mentor and mentee intake, interviews, reference checks, and supports onboarding processes to the program
oOngoing match monitoring for matched mentors and mentees
oTo work alongside the Youth Mentorship Program Coordinator to coordinate and facilitate group mentoring programs like Connect4 and Hey Girl
oSupport social media engagement initiatives alongside YM worker to promote services and engage online with youth seeking supports
oFacilitates program orientation and training to mentors
Supports evaluation requirements at different stages of the program
oSupports the development of guiding principles for the program
Organizes and prepares program related materials
Supports internal or external facilitators
Participates in supervisory and team meetings, program reviews, and trainings as necessary
Ability to support and engage adult mentors and youth mentees from diverse communities with diverse lived experiences; educational backgrounds and range of occupational groups
Fluency in French (an asset)
Skills & Qualifications:
Child Youth Worker, Social Service Worker, or related degree and experience grounded in a strengths-based, systemic perspective with youth aged 12 - 25 and their families
oKnowledge and understanding of Youth Mentorship and Engagement philosophies
oStrong data analysis and evaluation focus
oProficient with computer software with excellent working knowledge of social media
oExcellent oral and written communication skills
oSuperb time management, interpersonal and organizational skills
oEnthusiasm and skill working to support change with a multi-challenged, diverse client population
oMaturity and sensitivity relatable to the life experiences and needs of youth in the identified communities
Comfort working with diverse cultures, including marginalized populations
oAbility to work flexible hours including evenings and the occasional Saturday is essential
oCurrent (6 months or less) Vulnerable Sector Search will be required
Availability:
Must be available two evenings and one afternoon per week (Monday, Tuesdays and Wednesday) and occasional Saturday
