Who we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for:

We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for three (3) Regular Full-Time Workshop Facilitators who are talented, creative and have a passion for working with children and youth, educating them on ways to stay safe. Making a difference in the lives of children and youth is important to you! This is an entry-level position, based in Port Coquitlam, with many opportunities to grow your professional network and get yourself known to others in the youth and community services sector.

  • you\xe2\x80\x99re a natural at connecting and relating to young people and are comfortable presenting concepts that can be sensitive.
  • you demonstrate good judgement, act with tact and diplomacy and can manage conflict as well as group dynamics effectively and constructively.
  • organizing and managing your time does not faze you.
  • you\xe2\x80\x99re a team player.
  • you want to support youth who may be reluctant to engage and will be sensitive and understanding of their social realities including issues of race, culture, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, poverty, and lifestyle.
  • you\xe2\x80\x99re a whiz with MSWord, Office, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams.
  • familiarity with Zoom, social platforms, Prezi and/or Canva is a plus.
  • you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
  • you have a class 5 or 7 BC driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and a suitable diver\xe2\x80\x99s abstract and claims history.
Your Role:
  • develop, implement, and evaluate school-based prevention and early intervention workshops, such as information sessions, classroom presentations and group discussions to youth on the issue of child/youth sexual exploitation, using a variety of methods including video, quizzes, skits, and role-plays.
  • support schools, service providers, community groups and the public by providing information, educational resources and promotional materials relating to sexual exploitation.
  • provide information to youth and parents on community/educational resources and recommend appropriate services as required.
  • assist in the planning of and participate in the Youth Art Engagement Project, a 9-week program that explores topics relating to exploitation and provides youth with the opportunity to create social justice art pieces.
  • promote public awareness of and support of the program by performing duties such as producing promotional materials and attending community events.
  • maintain related records, administer participant evaluations, collect workshop statistics, and provide reports as required.
  • travelling to various locations throughout the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley and British Columbia is required. Mileage is reimbursed as per the agency\xe2\x80\x99s mileage policy.

The minimum requirements for education and training:
  • a diploma in a related field.
  • at least one (1) year of recent related experience.
