Competitive Climbing Coach
to support our
House League Team
--a competitive youth team focused on training and competing locally, provincially and nationally.
About the Role:
As a Coach, you will work closely with the Head Coach to deliver high-quality training sessions, mentor youth climbers, and help prepare the team for competitions. This role requires travel to competitions and a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends. Practices will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4:15pm to 7:30pm, between both BoulderHouse locations.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Head Coach with the planning and execution of team practices
Provide individualized feedback and encouragement to climbers
Help manage team logistics during competitions and travel
Foster a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented team environment
Maintain a strong understanding of current training methods and competition formats
What We're Looking For:
Prior experience in climbing (competitive experience a strong asset)
The applicant must be over the age of 19
Coaching or mentorship experience, especially with teenagers
Ability to travel for competitions within BC, expenses paid
First Aid & CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
Nice to Have:
Familiarity with CEC and SCBC competition rules, formats and schedule
Previous experience coaching competitive sport
Experience climbing in multiple disciplines (Competitive, Lead, Boulder, Trad)
Any relevant coaching courses or certifications
Pay:
Starting wage for all Coaches is $19.85, though an increased starting wage may be available depending on experience and certifications.
