ABOUT YOU
You are a dynamic and responsible leader who oversees daily operations and activities within the youth lounge, creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for young people. You are reliable, responsive to customer needs and excellent at building relationships. You will lead a wide variety of programs, events and community engagement working with preteens and youth between the ages of 10-18. You will carry out their duties while adhering to North Vancouver Recreation and Culture's policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise multiple youth service areas during work schedule;
Plan weekly activities and events for youth, identifying needs and interests to offer effective programming;
Supervise Youth Service staff including training, orientation, conflict resolution, and coaching;
Set team work schedule, organize and purchase supplies, and delegate administrative tasks as appropriate;
Monitor budget reports, prepare monthly attendance summary, Reconciling purchases for youth service areas.
Attend regular staff meetings with Recreation Programmer;
Work collaboratively with external youth serving organizations
Promotions and marketing of youth programs and services at the NVRC facility, schools, and/or youth serving organizations.
Facilitate Youth Leadership Committee meetings and/or events
Implement Youth Service guidelines and consequences in conjunction Recreation Programmer;
Report incidents and accidents to staff and follow up with a supervisor
Perform related work as required
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Two years of college or university coupled with considerable experience working with preteens 10-12 years old and youth 13-18 years old. Preference will be given to applicants pursuing a Recreation or Child and Youth Care Diploma or Degree. Emergency First Aid with CPR-C required for this position. High Five and FOODSAFE Level 1 certifications required for this position (can be obtained within first three months of employment).
All employees should be prepared to work at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location. All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a condition of employment.
HOURLY RATE:
The pay for this casual position ranges between $23.45-$25.58 per hour, based on education and experience, plus 4% vacation pay.
HOURS OF WORK:
Must be available to work after school times on Weekdays and/or Saturday evenings for approximately 25-30 hours per week.
