We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Youth Worker to join our team. As a Youth Worker, you will be responsible for providing support, guidance, and mentorship to children and adolescents. Our after-school program runs from 2:45-5:30pm, Monday through Friday, with a Saturday respite from 9-1. The program offers socialization, life skills, support, and more! Your role will involve creating a safe and nurturing environment where young individuals can learn, grow, and thrive.
Responsibilities:
- Educate and engage with children and adolescents in various activities
- Plan and implement age-appropriate programs
- Provide emotional support and guidance to youth facing challenges
- Foster positive relationships with youth
- Assist in the development of life skills, such as communication and problem-solving
- Monitor and ensure the safety of all participants during activities
- Collaborate with other staff members to create a cohesive team environment
- Maintain accurate records of participant attendance, progress, and incidents
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents is a must
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with youth from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Must have experienced in supporting individuals with autism and other neurodivergences
Set working hours, with the option to work Saturdays, and some Saturday evenings
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in child development or related field is a must
