Please be advised that applications are now being accepted for Relief Youth Care Worker positions with Youth Resource Niagara's group home and community programs. The positions encompass the primary functions of client supervision, support and on-going life skills, safety and security, crisis management, administrative and clerical duties. The David S. Horne program is a supportive reintegration home serving youth primarily 16-18 years of age. The Wagner home program serves youth primarily 12-18 years of age who have been placed in care by Family and Children Services (FACS) Niagara. The Genesis program serves youth primarily 12-18 years of age who have been placed in care by Family and Children Services (FACS) Niagara. The Orchard program serves youth primarily 9-14 years of age who have been placed in care by Family and Children Services (FACS) Niagara. Community Programs provides rehabilitative and supportive programs for youth involved in the Youth Criminal Justice System. Respite services provide families and caregivers time-limited breaks in their responsibilities of care. Services are provided within the client's home.
Key Qualifications:
Counselling, case management, and administrative skills acquired through B.A., B.S.W. psychology, sociology or related field, or through a College Diploma (S.S.W., C.Y.W., Correctional Worker)
Working knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, Youth Criminal Justice Act, and social service agencies
Effective crisis intervention skills
Experience working with specialized needs clientele
Understanding of youth mental health issues
Computer skills including Microsoft Office software
Proficient in written and oral English
Written and oral French considered an asset
Requirements:
Police Clearance including the Vulnerable Sector Screening
Valid Full G Driver's License/Drivers Abstract
Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C with AED Certification
Health assessment / immunization are up to date by a doctor
Photocopies of Diplomas / Degrees
Minimum of two Professional References
Compensation: $19.01 - $23.42 per hour
Hours of Work: Rotational shift work (Nights 6:30pm-6:30am, Days 6:30am-6:30pm, 8 hours floats). Shifts/hours are offered as required to support program needs. Community and Respite based hours as needed.
Positions are bargaining unit positions represented by OPSEU.
